enclose.horse Tutorial - Let's learn step by step
What This Tutorial Covers
The interactive tutorial above introduces the core mechanics of enclose.horse across five short puzzles, each designed to teach a specific concept. You'll start with simple wall placement and work up to handling special tiles and planning your enclosures around obstacles.
If you get stuck, you can reset the puzzle and try a different approach. The tutorial typically takes around two to three minutes to complete.
Level Breakdown
- Placing your first wall on a small grid. You'll learn how to tap tiles to build a wall and see how it encloses the horse.
- Building a complete enclosure. In this level, you'll learn how to place multiple walls to enclose the horse.
- In this tutorial level you can proceed only when you have found the most optimal solution. Finding the optimal solution is the main objective of the game.
- Here we introduce special tiles. There are bees, golden apples and cherries. These have an effect on your score if enclosed.
- Now we introduce portals, one of the most powerful special tiles in the game. The horse can teleport through these.
Common Beginner Mistakes
New players often run into the same issues when starting out. Here are some things to watch out for:
- Leaving a single gap. Even one missing wall means the horse can escape through it. Remember the horse can move left, right, up and down, but not diagonally.
- Forgetting that the grid edge is open. If your enclosure touches the edge of the grid without a wall there, the horse can escape.
- Walling off too small an area. It's tempting to build a tight box, but a bigger enclosure with the same number of walls scores higher.
- Not using water. Water tiles are free walls. Build your enclosure so that water forms part of the boundary instead of placing walls next to it.
After the Tutorial
Once you finish all five steps, you'll see a completion screen with some tips for getting started with the main game. From there, you have a few options:
- Play today's daily puzzle. A new puzzle is published every day at midnight in your timezone. Everyone gets the same puzzle, so you can compare scores.
- Browse community levels. These are puzzles created by other players with a range of difficulty from beginner-friendly to expert.
- Create your own levels in the level editor. Design puzzles with custom terrain, special tiles, and your own wall budget.
